CEO & Founder CaribAlgae wins The Challenge Engineering 2018!
The Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI) challenges ambitious engineers to come up with a sustainable, innovative technological solution to make a structural contribution to achieve the climate goals.
Together with Yacht, BNR Nieuwsradio and the FD they went looking for the engineer of 2018! Sustainable technical innovations in the field of energy, mobility, industry and the built environment were central themes.
Twelve candidates were selected for the semi-finals, of which 3 eventually went through to the final on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.
In a well-filled Fabrique in Utrecht, the three finalists pitch their innovative ideas.
CaribAlgae\’s solution to achieve CO2 reduction and waste water purification with cultured algae and simultaneously produce green fuel convinced the public and the jury. Founder & CEO Avila Lindgren can call herself the best and most sustainable Engineer of 2018 and has won a check of € 5,000.
The jury consisted of Diederik Samsom (KIVI central management), Marjan van Loon (Shell), Daniël Poolen (KIVI) and Edouard Schneiders (Hyperloop TU Delft).
