Present Your Startup Caribbean 2019 & The Road to GES2019 Caribbean
From March 11 to 13 CaribAlgae participated in the Present Your Startup Caribbean 2019.
Present Your Startup is a yearly accelerator and startup competition that connects startups to investors and experts. Shortlisted startups follow a program of multiple training days, which is followed by a pitch competition. Throughout the whole program, the participants get to know investors, other businesses and potential customers of the Present Your Startup network.
11 Startups pitched during the semi-finals where CaribAlgae was selected as a finalist.
On March 14 and 15, 2019 Curaçao hosted The Road to GES2019 Caribbean. Ministers, government officials, thought leaders and entrepreneurs from all over the Caribbean, the United States, the Netherlands and even Africa attended the event. Among attendees were US Consul General Margaret Hawthorne, US Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Pete Hoekstra, Acting Director of Foreign Economic Relations of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs Guido Landheer, Prime Minister of Curacao, Eugene Rhuggenaath and Prime Minister of Aruba Evelyn Wever-Croes.
CaribAlgae was invited to present its ideas during the Renewable Energy & Water Sessions hosted by Darick Jonis of Aqualectra and James Ellsmoor (Forbes 30 under 30) on Friday March 15.
The Road to GES2019 Caribbean is a pre event to The Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) that takes place in the Netherlands in June 2019.
Although CaribAlgae did not win Present Your Startup Caribbean 2019 we learned a lot during the several accelerator sessions and built even more valuable relationships with local companies, investors and the government. We were able to raise more awareness and got a lot of positive feedback.
It is devastating to see and hear about the effects on the environment in first hand and we are very motivated to start implementing the contributions CaribAlgae can make!
